Review: Styxx

Styxx
Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was huge in size and as usual, I love every book in this series. This one, as with Acheron’s book had some squimish parts but you love your characters good times and bad right? Parts of this book made my heart break and the urge to want to hug Styxx was overwhelming. This was an awesome telling of his life from HIS point of view and not any others. It’s amazing how two people can experience some of the same things in life but only assume how the other person experiences it themselves. Dramatic twists and turns, war and everlasting love! I couldn’t put this book down! I am ready for the next book!

Review: Teardrop

Teardrop
Teardrop by Lauren Kate
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I needed a book for the plane ride and Lauren Kate is a great author. I gave the book a 3 star review because it was very well written even though it probably would have gotten a two. However, it was a little slow and there wasn’t really a whole lot of action involved until the end. The story line is unique and we have a good lineup of new characters including Eureka and Ander, but if you asked me if I liked the book I would probably say “meh”.
I would read book two in hopes that it is better than book one and Lauren Kate’s Fallen series was great so I feel the need to give it a fair chance to improve.

Review: The King

The King
The King by J.R. Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I was hoping for a little more lesser vs. brothers action but was excited to get a little more background on where Wrath came from. There was more Selena and Trez interaction and hopefully the next book will include them more. This book lived up to it’s name though in regaards to The King because it was all about him. Beth goes through a lot as well in this book, being his Shellan and all and being half human makes her different from all the other ladies in the house. I was hoping that there would be more John Matthews revelations (those of you who are up to date should know what I am talking about).
J.R Ward has again given us something worth drooling over.

Review: Under Different Stars

Under Different Stars
Under Different Stars by Amy A. Bartol
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

She’s done it again….. Author Amy Bartol has again outdone herself and addicted us to a wonderful series. A totally different and new adventure full of action, love and heart-throbbing villians. Our main character Kricket is a tough, street smart female who learns that everything she has ever believed about her life is not real.
Enter the tall handsome Trey and his men who fight to keep Kricket safe by kidnapping her before a rival clan can. Who is lying and who is she to trust? Attempted murder, hidden powers, seduction and betrayal are all wrapped up in this awesome new series.
I had to force myself to put this book down so that I could get some sleep. A definate must read especially for those of us who are fans of Amy’s Premonition series. Cannot wait for book 2!

Seduced by Pain
Seduced by Pain by Kimberly Kinrade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series is still holding my attention :) Derek and Rose go through some tough times and there is temptation at every turn. Rainbow is more evil than I had previously thought and her demon sidekick and herself are not taking no for an answer. I was frustrated at the cliffhanger by the end of this book, which obviously is what the author wants.
Rose and Derek find a way to be together in more ways than one and that alone heats up the storyline. Old friends seek to become new flames and new friends make for an interesting future if they can get past all the hurdles.

Mature Content within the book but not overly done.
As I’ve said before, it’s great when authors let you have the first book for free so you can get addicted to the series. This was a great book that I read in a few hours by an author that I hadn’t discovered yet. The characters were very well rounded and easy to get attached to.
Rose has a power that everyone is afraid of, including herself. The no contact rule doesn’t seem to bother her until she meets Derek, a total hottie but once they learn each others secrets will they still be able to survive? I was wrapped up in this book from the begining and am now reading book two. Definate must read for more mature audiences (don’t miss out on the steamy stuff). Go grab it while it’s free!

Review: Forbidden Forest

Forbidden Forest

I hardly ever give 5 star reviews because to me they are meant for the elite. Not that all books aren’t great because each one is special in it’s own way, but you really have to earn them with me. The love/hate soul mate struggle in this book was so intense I couldn’t stop reading. Kudos to the author for keeping the pace non stop.
There is drama, betrayal, intense make out scenes (without being over the top) and a great descriptive storyline without a lot of language. I would recommend this book to anyone :)

Review: Collide

Collide
Collide by Shelly Crane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thought this was a great book!! I downloaded it for free on amazon which was even better! Great story line, great well rounded characters and creatures you don’t find in the everyday book. The Keepers are a very interesting group of “visitors” and I love how they go through new expereiences as they are on earth. I found it so romantic how Merrick watched over Sherry even though Danny was his Special.
I feel sorry for Sherry when she attracts all the jerks and bad creatures though, it’s like she is a magnets for them. Great towards the end of the book, leaving it open for another which I believe there are 4 books total so far. Definately moving on to book two.

Review: Forbidden

Forbidden by Syrie James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Although a little slow to begin with I thought this was a great teen book. I have had this book for some time and finally decided to read it and it only took a few hours. It was a story of forbidden love and although it wasn’t big on the action part until towards the end, it still held my attention.
There was great cast of well rounded characters and the ending left it open for another book. I was half expecting the main characters to be a different breed of paranormal at first. I totally fell in love with Alec, who was in my opinion very swoon worthy and totally loyal. I would recomment this book to any teen wanting a great story to read.

Review: Crave

Crave
Crave by Melissa Darnell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This has been sitting on my bookshelf for quite some time and I finally decided to pick it up and read it. I am glad that I did! Melissa Darnell did a great job with this first book in the series of the Clann, although parts of it were a little drawn out and could have been summed up a bit.
You have you basic forbidden lovers but one of them being a mixture of breeds made the story more interesting as to which traits they would obtain. Tristan was a great characters, always fighting for what he believed was right. I will be looking for book two!

I guess it depends on the order in which you read certain books as to which ones sound like the others. I read the book Immortal by Gillian Shields before this one and parts of the overall story settings are similar. This was a good read though, I finished it in a few hours and will read the next book in the series if I come across it. It was a very well written book, it just wasn’t for me I guess. I think it needed a little more action and a little less drama queen high school type stuff.

Great book. Easy, quick read and it kept you interested throughout. It was great to have all the twists and turns in the book. There are parts when you hear yourself saying “no way” and “no!” all too often. Great use of description with an active story line. The author did a great job getting you attached to the characters. A few new creatures and the genetic structure of the twin bloods adds an interesting turn to the love story of the main characters. On to book two….

Review: Reality

Reality
Reality by Dani Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Although it took me a few chapters to really get into it, the book was a great, quick read. You never really know the full story of what’s going on from Arie’s past until almost the end and then you are begging for more pages to appear once it is finished.
The mental struggle that Arie goes through over Ashe and River is heart wrenching. Then just when you decide who you like better, the story shifts and you don’t know who you’d pick. Hate and love struggle against each other constantly leaving you on the edge of your seat.
Dani Hart did an amazing job with this book and I am really looking forward to another book in this series.

I obtained this book when it was free on amazon and what a great find! A fairly quick read that kept me hooked all the way through. Dean is so mysterious, you never know what is going on with him and when I got to the suprise ending I was screaming. The author keeps you on your toes the whole time I am definately looking forward to book 2!

Review: Lark

Lark
Lark by Erica Cope
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started 4 books in one day and this was the one that grabbed my attention the quickest and I finished it in a few hours. Mia and her “friend” Grey are a frustrating couple who aren’t really a couple. Destined to become something she has no idea about, Mia adapts pretty well. In comes the second hottie and things start to get complicated. A great story line with action, love and friendship and you never know when the bad guy is not really the bad guy.
The author did a great job keeping the reader interested in what was going to happen next while keeping it YA. I really look forward to book two! Go grab it from Amazon right now for .99 cents

Review: Long Night Moon

Long Night Moon
Long Night Moon by S.M. Reine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Riley has no idea what to expect when new wolves and wiccan come to town and things start happening. Freinds and family get hurt and the most unlikley suspect is responsible. Riley and Seth’s love developes more and when she feels threatened bad things happen. Huge twist in the plot and things aren’t always as they seem. Great addition to the series.

Review: All Hallows Moon

All Hallows Moon
All Hallows Moon by S.M. Reine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The series keeps getting better and more intense. Author S.M. Reine has stepped up the action a little as Riley goes to live with her family. I was happy to see that Seth was still part of the picture as well as his family. Riley learns more about what she is and how to control it. I felt for one of Rileys family member in paticular concerning something that wasn’t supernatural and their drama helped add to the story and get the reader more attached.
Riley finds an odd friend to hang out with named Tate and he ends up being quite an amusing character. Moving on to book 3.

Review: Six Moon Summer

Six Moon Summer
Six Moon Summer by S.M. Reine
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Although a good story line, I gave this a three because it was a slow read at first. It took a while to get into the life of Riley and Seth. The camp part of the story line was a little slow but the story picked up when some realizations of Seth came to pass. Definately going to read book two because the ending of the book was better than the begining. Riley starts to be a stronger character when those that she cares about are in danger, but the bad guy was who I expected with a little suprise twist as to his follower.

Review: Death

Death
Death by Tara Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a a wonderful series and I never got tired of any of the books. There were no down times and pages full of blabber. Tara brown is an amazing author and I can’t wait to read more of her work. The story never got old especially with Ari in it. You never knew what was going through that brain of hers and what she was going to do next. Aimee is a strong character and not even the changing of the past can truly change what she is.
A great series I would recommend to anyone that has a love for the paranormal and a love for well written books. Thanks Tara for making the first book free and getting us addicted.
